Dame Daphne du Maurier (1907-1989) was an English author and playwright. A number of her books have been turned into hugely successful films including 'Rebecca' and 'Jamaica Inn'. Two of her short stories were famously adapted for the screen: 'The Birds' by Alfred Hitchcock and 'Don't Look Now' by Nicolas Roeg (starring Julie Christie and Donald Sutherland).
