Willie Landels (born 1928) was brought up in Como. He worked briefly as a scene-painter at La Scala, Milan after which he came to England in 1950 to work in the art department of the advertising agency J Walter Thompson. In 1965 he joined the glossy magazine 'Queen', eventually becoming editor of Harper's & Queen' after its merger.
