Robin Hood (13th/14th century AD) was a legendary heroic outlaw, popular in the Late Middle Ages. Traditionally depicted in Lincoln green, it is said that he robbed the rich in order to give to the poor. His lover was Maid Marian and his band of outlaws were known as the Merry Men. His chief opponent was the Sheriff of Nottingham.
