Frederico del Sagrado Corazon de Jesus Garcia Lorca (1898-1936) was a Spanish poet, playwright and theatre director. In his late 20s he began an intense friendship with Salvador Dali although, after some time, the latter rejected his advances. Garcia Lorca was an outspoken socialist and was executed by Nationalist forces at the outset of the Spanish Civil War; his body has never been found.
