Lucy Dickens

Artist Lucy Dickens explains: "My subject matter varies hugely; from the groups of people and little vignettes of life that I am known for, to a more spiritual, contemplative group of works. Time spent away from city life has set my imagination on fire, and brought a new freedom to my painting. There is still a humorous side to much of the work, whatever the medium, be it oils, acrylics, gouaches, or the bold graphic fabric collages."

Lucy Dickens, great-great-granddaughter of Charles Dickens, began her career as a full-time artist in 1990. Having previously worked as a fashion stylist for Conde Nast, Lucy became a freelance illustrator, working for publications including the Financial Times, the Daily Telegraph, the Daily Mail, Vogue, Brides, Harpers and Queen and Tatler. She began to paint while writing and illustrating a series of children's books, which were published in London and New York.
